Prepping for your Newborn Session

If you’re planning to have your newborn photos done in your home, these little tidbits will help you prepare.

  1. Look for the room with the largest window, typically a family room or the primary bedroom. If you don’t have a lot of natural light, that’s ok! I bring my own light for this reason.
  2. Turn your heat up. Little babies love warmth, it will help keep him or her content for our time together.
  3. Keep baby’s tummy full. A fresh feeding right before your session, as well as during, will keep them sleepy. I always notice that babies are hungrier when I’m there for your session!
  4. I typically grab a few shots in the nursery, so be sure you have the crib sheet on that you want in photos.

When I arrive, we can decide what shots are best to start with. If baby is sleepy or doesn’t mind being put down, we can start with baby only shots. This could include the crib, basket, bassinet and/or mom&dad’s bed.
